Technology has improved our lives in so many ways, and dentistry is no exception. At Burien Dental Clinic, we use up-to-date technology to streamline your procedure, improve your comfort, and achieve better long-term outcomes.
Please take a moment to learn more about the ways we use technology to provide you with the highest standard of care. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call us at (206) 244-1618.
Intraoral Cameras
We believe that it is important for you to be involved in making decisions about your dental treatment because we want to help you achieve your oral health goals. An intraoral camera is specially designed and adjusted for dentistry and is a valuable tool for diagnosing problems and educating our patients.
The camera allows us to share immediate detailed images of your teeth so that you see what we see in real time. With this information, we can better explain to you the reason for treatments and discuss your options. The intraoral camera also gives our team greater visual clarity, making diagnosis easier and more accurate.
Laser Dentistry
Lasers are being used more and more in dentistry. They allow us to do things that we weren’t able to do before with shorter healing time and less pain. Lasers, in conjunction with traditional methods of treatment, help control bacteria count and gum disease that has direct links to heart health. We use lasers to uncover implants and recontour tissues without having to cut with blades that can leave tissue sorer for longer. Lasers are now even being used for things like whitening.

Digital X-Rays
In some cases, a dentist can look in your mouth and see a problem developing. But most of the time, issues develop inside your teeth where they can’t be seen during a visual exam. That is why x-rays are such a valuable tool in dentistry.
Today, we have the benefit of state-of-the-art digital x-rays that emit less radiation than traditional x-rays, making them a safer alternative. Digital x-rays also produce highly detailed images that make it easier for your dentist to diagnose problems like decay or gum disease.
Another important feature of digital x-rays is that we can easily share the images with you by displaying them on your chairside monitor. Dr. Sessions can point out the problem area so you can see for yourself why treatment is needed.
Digital x-rays are also helpful because we can share them electronically with specialists or your insurance company as needed. And since there are no chemicals involved in processing digital x-rays, there is no hazardous waste to dispose of.
Nitrous Oxide
Life is stressful enough, the last thing you need is to have a stressful dental appointment! At Burien Dental Clinic, we offer nitrous oxide to help you stay relaxed, calm, and comfortable during treatment without side effects so you can still drive yourself home.
Nitrous oxide, also referred to as laughing gas, is meant to provide relief from anxiety during your procedure. It is an odor-free gas that mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a comfortable nasal mask. All you need to do is to breathe normally, and in a few moments, you will experience a sense of relaxation and calm that makes it possible for you to drift off comfortably while we treat you.
At the end of your procedure, we will stop the flow of nitrous and allow you to inhale pure oxygen for a few moments. When we remove the mask, you will have no lingering effects, and you will be able to resume your normal daily activities.
